2006 February Sweeps February 17 Listings

(Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone)

7 PM:

“Dancing With the Stars 2” (ABC; ends at 8 PM)-Results show.  Crooner Michael Bublι sings “Save the Last Dance for Me” from his latest album, It's Time, as professional dancers Alec Mazo and Edyta Sliwinska dance the cha cha.  He also accompanies professional dancers Nick Kosovich and Andrea Hale who dance the foxtrot as he sings “Moondance” off his highly successful sophomore album, Come Fly with Me.  In a “Dancing With the Stars” first, host Tom Bergeron will join Master P's former partner, Ashly Delgrosso, in a heroic attempt at the quickstep.  Based on last night's performance, fairly sure that Team Jerry Rice will be going home tonight.

“XX Olympic Winter Games” (NBC; ends at 10:30 PM)-Figure skating; snowboarding; alpine skiing; skeleton; ski jumping.

“WWE Friday Night SmackDown!” (UPN; ends at 9 PM)

“What I Like About You” (WB; ends at 7:30 PM)-When Val meets Vic's mom, Eileen (guest star Linda Dano, “Another World”), for the first time, she does her best to impress her.  In doing so, Val unknowingly causes her mother-in-law to fall off the wagon.  Meanwhile, Holly's jealousy over Vince's new partnership with his co-worker causes them to re-evaluate their relationship.  Series star Dan Cortese directed this episode.

7:30 PM:

“Living with Fran” (WB; ends at 8 PM)-With Fran dressed as a sexy leopard and Riley a big game hunter, the couple crashes a Halloween party so that Fran can drum up clients for her interior decorating business.  While at the party, Riley runs into his ex-fiancιe, Beth (guest star Meredith Monroe), who is still bitter that he left her at the altar.  Unaware that Riley was once engaged, Fran questions what else he has kept from her.  Meanwhile, Josh's date is interrupted when Allison is brought home by a police officer after she is caught driving her mother's car without a license.  Instead of telling Fran about the incident, Josh blackmails Allison into becoming his slave until she finally confesses.

8 PM:

“In Justice” (ABC; ends at 9 PM)-The justice team tries to save a mentally impaired man in his twenties from execution after he's convicted of the murder of a priest at the church that gave him shelter.

“Reba” (WB; ends at 8:30 PM)-When Reba learns that Van is in charge of the family budget and has Cheyenne documenting all her purchases in an expense journal, she advises him to treat Cheyenne more as an equal.  Unfortunately, Van decides the best solution is to start giving Cheyenne a weekly allowance for her household duties, which obviously doesn't sit well with his wife.  Meanwhile, Barbra Jean discovers that Jake has started a lucrative business selling soda...against school policy...to his classmates.

“The Soup” (E!; ends at 8:30 PM)-Host Joel McHale makes fun of celebrity news and events.

“Battlestar Galactica” (Sci-Fi Channel; ends at 9 PM)-Concerns over missing Vipers pit the new Pegasus commander (guest star John Heard) against his temporary XO, Lee Adama.  Meanwhile, the presidential campaign turns into a pro-choice vs. pro-life debate.

8:30 PM:

“Twins” (WB; ends at 9 PM)-Mitchee and Farrah have their first fight in their new condo and realize that moving in together may not have been the best idea.  Meanwhile, Lee and Alan decide to spice up their romance and visit the local video store.  Alan and Lee's embarrassment turns to frustration once they realize the video clerk gave them the wrong video.

9 PM:

“20/20” (ABC; ends at 10 PM)

“Best Week Ever” (VH1; ends at 9:30 PM)-I bet that the whole Britney Spears baby on lap controversy will come up; the Grammies might be mentioned as well.

9:30 PM:

“Web Junk 20” (VH1; ends at 10 PM)-A hyperactive weatherman who spends more time rapping, beat-boxing, and sexually harassing the staff than giving the people their weather; a sweet grandmother enjoying her birthday the old-fashioned way, having a little target practice with her sub machine gun; another magical moment with President Bush; a foul mouthed preacher; and Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble taking a smoke break.

Watching/Recording Suggestions:

At 7 PM, watch “Dancing With the Stars 2;” record “What I Like About You”/“Living with Fran” on TiVo.  At 8 PM, watch “In Justice;” record “Reba”/“Twins” on TiVo.  At 9 PM, watch “Best Week Ever”/“Web Junk 20.”  At 11 PM, watch “Battlestar Galactica” when it repeats at this time on the Sci-Fi Channel.  Watch “The Soup” when it repeats on E! at 8 AM the next morning.
