2006 February Sweeps February 9 Listings

(Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone)

7 PM:

Dancing with the Stars 2 (ABC; ends at 8:30 PM)-Five couples are left for the sixth round, which includes new dances and a group Viennese waltz.  Now that we don't have Team Master P to pick on, I wonder who will be the next to go.  I have a feeling that George Hamilton won't make it, because he isn't the best dancer.  He is entertaining though!

Survivor: Panama (CBS; ends at 8 PM)-Six days on the island and one survivor is ready to go home.  When four tribes are consolidated into two during a school-yard pick, the last Survivor fears their time on the island might be over.  One castaway struggles to adjust to life on the island.  Will they overcome the pressure or quit?  One Survivor makes a major mistake and leaves their tribe disappointed, hungry and still desperate for food.  As the castaways get to know each other, they waste no time forming alliances, leaving two Survivors feeling vulnerable and another two in a position of power.  I think that it was stupid to boot a strong player like Lumberjack Tina off the island first.  What about Cirie?  How has her fear of leaves helped her tribe?

Will & Grace (NBC; ends at 7:30 PM)-The big day has finally arrived...Grace and James (recurring guest star Taye Diggs) are getting ready for their green card wedding.  To Grace's dismay, Karen takes it upon herself to ignore her wish for a low-key wedding ceremony and decides to arrange a huge affair instead including hiring Hall & Oates to perform “Maneater” at the ceremony.

That ‘70s Show (FOX; ends at 7:30 PM)-When a guest cancels a booking on “What’s Up, Wisconsin,” Jackie’s job is on the line unless she finds a replacement.  Desperate, Jackie and Fez pretend to be a couple in love, but their plan backfires when Christine St. George (returning guest star Mary Tyler Moore) spills her life story and then fires Jackie for knowing too much.  Meanwhile, things heat up between Randy and Donna.

Everybody Hates Chris (UPN; ends at 7:30 PM)-While all the other kids at school are exchanging Valentine's Day cards, Chris receives a series of “I hate you” cards from the school bully, but love is in the air as he develops a “bus crush” on Tangee (guest star Raven Goodwin), a girl he regularly sees during his daily route.  Meanwhile, Julius and Rochelle must deal with the unexpected romantic attention Drew and Tonya are getting.

Smallville (WB; ends at 8 PM)-The spirit of a young girl is released after Chloe finds a corpse in the walls of the Talon.  Clark must follow the trail of the spirit and find her killer, who has been preying on girls in Smallville for the past 10 years.  When Lois is suddenly kidnapped, Clark comes to the rescue.

7:30 PM:

Four Kings (NBC; ends at 8 PM)-Jason gets a huge job opportunity when his boss puts him in charge of converting a low-income housing building into luxury condos.  Ben decides to pitch the redevelopment story to New York Magazine in a fit of desperation at his dead-end writing career.  His assignment to write an exposé on the tenants' forced eviction leads to a large rift between the friends.  Meanwhile, Bobby befriends an elderly woman in their apartment building who begins paying him for his friendship.  When he recruits Barry to do the same for one of her friends, Barry realizes that his date expects more than companionship to get her money's worth.

Love, Inc. (UPN; ends at 8 PM)

8 PM:

C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS; ends at 9 PM)-When the body of a young woman is found half-buried in the desert outside of Vegas, Grissom teams up with Lady Heather (guest star Melinda Clarke) to discover the cause of the victim's unusual death.  The mystery deepens when the C.S.I.s discover that the woman was participating in a clinical study where doctors performed experiments for sleep deprivation.

My Name is Earl (NBC; ends at 8:30 PM)-On their way to return a stolen laptop, Earl and Randy knock over a bus stop sign.  Earl promises an elderly woman that he'll fix the sign after returning the laptop, but he is sidetracked by the computer's owner, the beautiful college professor Alex Meyers (guest star Christine Taylor.)  When Alex takes a keen interest in Earl and his list, the two begin dating, but Earl can't help but notice that he is constantly the target of bad accidents and random acts of violence.  At first he chalks it up to plain old bad luck.  Then Earl remembers that he has yet to fix the bus stop sign and decides that karma is punishing him for causing people to miss the bus every day.  Meanwhile, Randy embraces collegiate life and begins pledging a fraternity.

The O.C. (FOX; ends at 9 PM)-Tragic news forces the gang to sort out their problems and face the reality of the situation.  After Sadie (new cast member Nikki Reed) arrives in Newport, Ryan helps her move and get rid of Volchok, causing Ryan to question his and Marissa’s relationship.  Meanwhile, Kaitlin’s winter break is over...just as she gets close to her family, she once again has to say goodbye.  Will she ever return to the O.C.?  In the wake of Newport’s latest events, Kirsten and Julie press on with their Valentine’s Day party.

Eve (UPN; ends at 8:30 PM)

Beauty and the Geek 2 (WB; ends at 9 PM)-In the fifth episode, the beauties and geeks travel to Las Vegas and compete in an unconventional game of strip poker.  Once exposed, the geek's test their new-found social skills by throwing a party only Vegas could handle.  Once everyone returns to the house, an unlikely crush grows between a beauty and a geek, while in the elimination room, two teams face questioning and one is sent packing.  I can't believe that Chris and Tristin are gone!  It was fun to see Chris getting under everyone's nerves.

8:30 PM:

The Office (NBC; ends at 9 PM)-When Michael visits Dunder Mifflin corporate headquarters in New York on Valentine's Day, he and Jan are both in for a surprise.  Meanwhile, back in Scranton, the office staff celebrates Valentine's Day grade school style.

Cuts (UPN; ends at 9 PM)-When the crew heads to Atlantic City, a cocky Kevin gets swindled at a high-stakes poker game by Tiffany's old nemesis Vince Van Patten (guest star as himself) and loses the salon, leaving Tiffany to figure out a way to win it back.  Meanwhile, after a comedian drops out, Walt finally gets an opportunity to perform with real comics at the Atlantic City Comedy Festival.  Comedian Corey Holcomb guest stars as himself.

The Shop (MTV; ends at 9 PM)-More rappers stop by Mr. Rooney's Barbershop to get a trim and to dish about their latest projects.

9 PM:

Without a Trace (CBS; ends at 10 PM)-While investigating the disappearance of a suburban stay-at-home mother, the team begins to suspect that she may not be as innocent as her husband and minister think she is.  Leah Robinson (guest star Meeghan Holaway) was last seen leaving a Manhattan gallery opening party with a man who was arguing with her.  When her husband, Ken (guest star Christopher Shyer), is stumped as to the man's identity and Leah's reason for being at the event, the team explores whether her disappearance could be linked to an affair gone awry.  The investigation takes an unexpected turn when the agents learn that Leah secretly followed her husband on his recent “hunting trip” and saw him with a waitress who was fatally shot days later.  Meanwhile, when their departments converge to work on this case, Jack and Anne (recurring guest star Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) butt heads on how to best conduct the investigation.

E.R. (NBC; ends at 10 PM)-Dr. Clemente and his girlfriend Jodie seem to be living the highlife together, when they are suddenly interrupted by Jodie's husband Bobby (guest star Shea Whigham.)  When Jodie threatens divorce, Bobby takes matters into his own hands.  Abby and Dr. Kovac anxiously await the test results determining the health of their unborn baby.  Meanwhile, when Dr. Pratt is put on the auction block for a bachelor charity event, everyone is surprised when a man wins the bid.  I love those “very special episodes” like the one from last week guest starring James Woods as ALS patient Dr. Nate Lennox.  He is going to get an Emmy, I tell ya!

9:30 PM:

Primetime Thursday (ABC; ends at 10 PM)-Special 30-minute episode.
