2006 May Sweeps May 10 Listings

(Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone)

7 PM:

Alias (ABC; ends at 8 PM)-Sydney must beat arch-nemesis Anna Espinosa to the punch when a mysterious chip found implanted in Renie is tied to Vaughn.  Meanwhile, Sloane struggles with ghostly visions while working for Prophet Five.

The Amazing Race 9 (CBS; ends at 8 PM)-While racing through Bangkok, Teams face a Roadblock where they must prepare a feast for hundreds of sacred monkeys.  In Thailand, teams make their way to an ancient temple where they find their next clue.  Two Teams race for the Fast Forward and both are greeted with a gut-wrenching challenge aptly named "Insect Delight" (I hate it when they do "Fear Factor"-type challenges.)  Despite a teammate's encouragement, a physically demanding challenge proves to be too much for one Racer who breaks down.

Deal or No Deal (NBC; ends at 8 PM)-Tonight, will psychic Shirley Lipner of East Chicago, Indiana prove that she is the real deal...or will she have to rely on luck to make the right deal?  Also playing the game, former Ohio University Bobcat mascot Chad Pritchard of Massilon, Ohio is surprised when his alma mater's marching band plays his new favorite fight song to cheer him on.

Bones (FOX; ends at 8 PM)-Booth and Brennan investigate the apparent suicide of a protester in Arlington National Cemetery.  Brennan and her team discover this was not suicide, it was murder, and the victim was a soldier who had served in Iraq, not a war protester as originally thought.  Booth and Brennan pursue the murder investigation and interrogate the American soldiers the victim served with in Iraq.  Their investigation leads to many unanswered questions about the victim’s military unit in Iraq and the actions they took while on patrol there.  As they uncover more information about the case, all clues point to a potential military cover-up.  Meanwhile, Booth laments the horrors of war and his own shady past as a military sniper.

America’s Next Top Model 6 (UPN; ends at 8 PM)-The final four models meet Thai designer Pichita Rucksajit who sends them on a challenge to travel via "tuk tuk" (Thai taxis) to meet and impress local designers; after which the girls fly to Phuket where Tyra talks about the Tsunami to remind them of the importance of respecting local history and culture when modeling internationally.  Later the models pose beachside in Op bikinis for a spread in the June/July 2006 issue of ElleGirl magazine and Amp'd Mobile, photographed by judge Nigel Barker.  Designers Kai Kawtong and Rai von Bueren, ElleGirl promotions director Christy Bayle, and Op Swim creative director Eric Crane make guest appearances; and creative director Disaya Prakobsantisukh serves as a guest judge.

The Bedford Diaries (WB; ends at 8 PM)-New episode at a special time.  Richard, depressed over the loss of Katrina (guest star Dagmara Dominczyk), who has gone back to Professor Macklin, lands in the arms of his ex-girlfriend Natalie, which makes Owen jealous.  Lee continues his downward spiral into a gambling addiction and is forced to buy a term paper for his most important class.  Zoe contemplates losing her virginity in an attempt to make Lee jealous.

8 PM:

Lost (ABC; ends at 9 PM)-Mr. Eko enlists Locke to help find a secret location he believes houses answers to the island's mysteries.  Meanwhile, Jack and the other survivors struggle to cope with the horrific situation in the hatch.

Criminal Minds (CBS; ends at 9 PM)-Gideon, Hotchner, and their team become pawns in the fantasy game of a psychopathic killer (Charles Haid, "Third Watch") who challenges them to unravel a series of clues and riddles in order to save his next victim.  After each receiving mysterious items while on their respective vacations, Gideon, Hotchner, and the rest of the team reconvene at the BAU offices in order to put all of the interlocking clues and messages together in the hopes of solving the case.

Dateline NBC: To Catch a Predator (NBC; ends at 9 PM)

American Idol 5 (FOX; ends at 8:30 PM)-I bet that Elliot is the one going home tonight.

The Bedford Diaries (WB; ends at 9 PM)-Season finale.  Professor Macklin makes abstinence the topic of the week.  Owen and Natalie rethink their relationship when she won't let him stay with her for a few days.  Owen's poor attitude makes Natalie consider giving Richard another chance.  Lee is having problems abstaining from both gambling and sex and needs a loan from Richard to pay his gambling debt.  Richard hires Zoe to be the school newspaper's new sex columnist, and Sarah almost gives her former professor/lover another chance until she realizes he is still preying on his female students.

Top Chef (Bravo; ends at 9 PM)-The 12 aspiring chefs gather for a reunion episode, which features previously unseen footage and new interviews with the contestants and judges.  The chefs also discuss how the series has impacted their personal and professional lives.

Tiara Girls (MTV; ends at 9 PM)-An overbearing mom signs her 16-year-old daughter named Katrina up for lip injections and body wraps to gain the teen an edge in an important pageant.

9 PM:

C.S.I.: NY (CBS; ends at 10 PM)-After being fired by Mac for tampering with evidence, Det. Aiden Burn (Vanessa Ferlito) returns as the team needs crucial evidence to finally catch a serial rapist, her last case which caused her dismissal.  Scenes from this episode were filmed on location at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum on the Hudson River in New York City.  During Fleet Week, an annual New York tradition showcasing military pride and achievement, the city is awash with servicemen taking a break from their duties.  The discovery of a dead decorated Marine corporal, killed in Central Park, in what is traditionally a week of celebration hits particularly close to home for Mac, a former Marine, as he sees a young version of himself in the victim.  Meanwhile, the team unites on one case when the victim of a car fire is someone they all knew.

Law & Order (NBC; ends at 10 PM)-Detectives Fontana and Green are skeptical when Detective Falco (returning guest star Michael Imperioli, "The Sopranos") finds a young woman he took home the night before slashed to death in his bathroom.  Anxious to exonerate himself of this crime, Falco takes steps that could be indicative of a cover-up instead of an unauthorized pursuit of the true culprit.  Fortunately, Detectives Fontana and Green believe their colleague was drugged by the victim in a plan to rob him but was instead dispatched by a violent female rival.  Proving it in court is difficult for A.D.A. McCoy, who must sort through a family of cons and ex-cons, some with ties to Falco, all resulting in a final twist of fate.

9:05 PM:

Invasion (ABC; ends at 10 PM)-While Russell and Underlay return to Homestead in an attempt to thwart Szura's plans during the impending hurricane, Mariel, Larkin, and the kids are rounded up by the National Guard for their protection.  Mariel and Larkin suspect that their saviors may well be their captors.  Meanwhile, Underlay's deputies question Dave as to the whereabouts of the sheriff.

11:30 PM:

Mind of Mencia (Comedy Central; ends at 12 AM)-From his question-and-answer sessions "Ask Whitey," to his unique take on Mariachi music, to making cultural law in "Judge Carlos," viewers can always count on Carlos Mencia to let them into his mind, week after week.
