2006 May Sweeps May 20 Listings

(Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone)

6 PM:

All You’ve Got (MTV; ends at 8 PM)-TV movie.  Set amidst the beaches of sunny Southern California and in the comic vein and edge of Bring it On, it follows two rival high school volleyball players (R&B star Ciara, Sarah Mason, FOX's ("Quintuplets") who are forced to combine their very different squads into one team after a tragic fire closes one of their schools.  Layered with a hot Latin and Hip Hop influenced soundtrack and the fast-paced, non-stop excitement of the sport, the teen athletes battle it out both on and off the court across racial, socio-economic, and romantic lines to reclaim a championship trophy and truly become a team.  Also starring Adrienne Bailon, Daniella Alonso, Efren Ramirez, Jennifer Pena, Doug Savant, Laila Ali, and Faizon Love.  It will also be released on DVD on May 23.

7 PM:

Remember the Titans (ABC; ends at 10 PM)-2000 sports drama starring Denzel Washington.

10.5 (NBC; ends at 10 PM)-Edited version of the 2004 miniseries; its new sequel, “10.5: Apocalypse,” airs Sunday and Tuesday.

Cops (FOX; ends at 7:30 PM)

Abominable (Sci-Fi Channel; ends at 9 PM)-TV movie.  Matt McCoy and Haley Joel star in this horror movie about a man who spots a Sasquatch-like monster during his stay in a remote cabin.  Directed by Ryan Schifrin.  Also starring Jeffrey Combs, Lance Henriksen, George Andrews, and Karin Anna Cheung.

7:30 PM:

Cops (FOX; ends at 7:30 PM)-650th episode.

8 PM:

America’s Most Wanted: America Fights Back (FOX; ends at 9 PM)

9 PM:

48 Hours Mystery (CBS; ends at 10 PM)

10:30 PM:

Mad TV (FOX; ends at 11:30 PM)-Season finale.  When “Tony Soprano” (Frank Caliendo) agrees to take a meeting with the Chinese Mafia, he gets annoyed when they don’t understand him, so they call in “Bae Sung” (Bobby Lee), the translator who can only really say “Uh-Oh Hot Dog.”  When Tony reaches his boiling point, he ends up bashing Bae Sung’s brains out while his friends “Silvio Dante” (Ike Barinholtz) and “Paulie” (Frank Caeti) watch.

10:35 PM:

Saturday Night Live (NBC; ends at 12:05 AM)-Season finale.  Kevin Spacey hosts; Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado is the musical guest.  Spacey I hope will do a Lex Luthor joke (he plays the character in this summer's Superman Returns, which comes out on June 30, 2006), or maybe a Keyser Soze joke (Superman director Bryan Singer also directed Spacey's 1995 movie The Usual Suspects.)  Furtado is promoting her new album Loose, which will be released on June 20, 2006.

Watching/Recording Suggestions:

At 6 PM, watch “All You’ve Got.”  At 7 PM, record “Abominable” on TiVo.  At 10:30 PM, record “Mad TV” on TiVo.  At 10:35 PM, watch “Saturday Night Live.”
