In an attempt to head off boring and overlong acceptance speeches where winners thank everyone from their dentists to their personal trainers, the organizers of the Academy Awards have set up a new backstage Thank You cam that allow Oscar winners to talk as long as they want. The backstage thank-yous will be broadcast moments later on oscars.com.

George Clooney and Cate Blanchett are eyeing roles in the stop-motion film The Fantastic Mr. Fox, an adaptation of the children's story by Roald Dahl, per the Hollywood Reporter. The film marks director Wes Anderson's first animated feature.

The Producers will end its six-year Broadway run on Apr. 22 after 2,502 performances at the St. James Theater, where Mel Brooks' next theatrical foray, a musical adaptation of Young Frankenstein, will set up shop later this year. The first incarnation of The Producers, starring Mathew Broderick and Nathan Lane won a record 12 Tonys, including Best Musical, in 2001.

Orlando Bloom has constructed an environmentally friendly home in London, complete with solar panels on the roof and energy-efficient light bulbs, the actor said Wednesday at a pre-Oscar party sponsored by Global Green USA, an organization devoted to raising awareness about global warming. Bloom arrived at the event in the hot celebrity vehicle of the moment...a plug-in hybrid car.

Denise Richards told People that both her mother and Richie Sambora's father are fighting cancer. "It's hard," Richards told the magazine at a fashion show Tuesday. "Thank God Richie and I have each other not only to go through divorce, but to go through both our parents being ill."

DreamWorks issued a statement Wednesday clarifying that Dreamgirls is a "fictional work" and apologizing to Motown founder Berry Gordy for any confusion that resulted from the film's loose interpretation of historical events. The studio's apology comes after Smokey Robinson told "Access Hollywood" he was offended by Jamie Foxx's portrayal of crooked record executive Curtis Taylor Jr., a character Robinson said he believed was based on Gordy, which Foxx has denied.

Steve Carell was named ShoWest's Comedy Star of the Year in honor of his dryly comedic performance in Little Miss Sunshine. The award will be presented at the closing ceremonies of the annual motion picture industry convention in Las Vegas on March 15.

Gossip blogger Perez Hilton is being sued for publishing a topless photo of Jennifer Aniston that came from footage of The Break-Up, the Smoking Gun reports. Universal Studios is alleging that the footage was stolen during filming of the 2006 romantic comedy and they are seeking an injunction barring further distribution of the picture.

A Los Angeles judge has rejected a case brought by two fraternity brothers who were unhappy about how they were portrayed in Borat and alleged they were duped into making offensive statements on camera by the film's producers.

Janet Blair, a 1940s actor who starred alongside the likes of Cary Grant and Red Skeleton in big-screen musicals and comedies before turning to television and theater, died Monday in Los Angeles from complications of pneumonia. She was 85.

Comic book adaptation Ghost Rider topped the long President's Day weekend box office with an estimated $44.5 million.  The critically-acclaimed children's tale Bridge to Terabithia came in second place with an estimated $22.1 million, romantic comedy Music and Lyrics came in fourth with an estimated $14 million, Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls came in fifth with an estimated $12.1 million, and spy drama Breach came in sixth with an estimated $10.4 million.

Bridget Moynahan is pregnant with the child of her ex-boyfriend, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, her rep said Monday. The parents-to-be ended their romantic relationship late last year, and Brady has since been linked with Gisele Bündchen.

Bryce Dallas Howard and her husband, Seth Gabel, welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, People reports. No word on a name.

Darren Lynn Bousman, the director behind Saw II and Saw III, will return to helm the fourth installment of the horror franchise, slated to begin shooting in April and due for release on Oct. 26.

Babel and The Departed tied for Best Edited Drama at the 57th Annual American Cinema Editors' Eddie Awards on Sunday, making the second tie in the history of the awards. (The first was in 1989, when Rain Man and Mississippi Burning were jointly honored.) Dreamgirls won the prize for Best Edited Comedy or Musical.

Friends and family paid tribute to Robert Altman at a memorial service in Manhattan on Tuesday. The legendary director died of complications from cancer in November. He was 81.

A judge has canceled an arrest warrant for Daniel Baldwin after he showed up in a Newport Beach, California court room Tuesday and pled not guilty to stealing an SUV and receiving stolen property. The actor blew off a Feb. 6 court date, leading the judge to issue the warrant for his arrest.
