Mary J. Blige racked up a leading eight Grammy nominations; the Red Hot Chili Peppers are hot on her heels with six; James Blunt, the Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, Danger Mouse, Prince, Rick Rubin, will.i.am, and John Williams each earned five nods; and Beyoncé, Bryan-Michael Cox, Gnarls Barkley, Israel Houghton, T.I., and Justin Timberlake pulled in four apiece. The 49th Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled for Feb. 11.

Madonna will sell a new clothing line, M by Madonna, through H&M, the company said Thursday. The chain previously teamed with the singer to outfit her for her Confessions tour.

Paul McCartney joined thousands of his fellow artists in an appeal for an extension to the British copyright on their recordings. On Wednesday, a government review rejected extending the existing copyright beyond 50 years, meaning that early Beatles hits such as "Love Me Do" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" could be up for grabs by 2012 and 2013.

Dolly Parton stated that she has no hard feelings toward Jessica Simpson after the latter blonde flubbed the lines of her song during a tribute to the country singer. "Jessica is so talented that I'm sure that someday they will be paying tribute to her, and I would be honored to perform for her," Parton said in a statement Thursday. "But I'll probably be so nervous that I'll forget my wig!"

Mary J. Blige scored a leading nine Billboard Music Awards Monday night, including R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the Year. Carrie Underwood and rapper T.I. bagged five apiece, while 17-year-old Chris Brown won three, including the evening's top honor, Artist of the Year. Paris Hilton bailed as co-host of the awards show because, her rep says, she doesn't want to crack jokes at the expense of her friends. The news follows an earlier report that co-host and new best bud Britney Spears was also skipping the Vegas ceremony.

Pete Doherty somehow managed to skirt jail time once again at his Monday sentencing on drug charges. A judge fined the rocker $1,525 in fines and court costs and taking away his driver's license for four months.

Steven Spielberg, Dolly Parton, Smokey Robinson, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and conductor Zubin Mehta were feted at the annual Kennedy Center Honors Sunday in Washington, DC. Jessica Simpson tearfully fleed the stage at Sunday's Kennedy Center Honors after flubbing her performance of Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" in a tribute to the country icon. Unfortunately for those of you who weren't there, Simpson requested and was granted a do-over of the number, which is the version slated to air when the awards are broadcast on CBS.

Denise Richards told "E! News'" Jason Kennedy that she would "absolutely" like to have children with boyfriend Richie Sambora. "I would be blessed to have children with Richie. He's a phenomenal dad," Richards said Monday at the Billboard Music Awards.

Snoop Dogg's arraignment on a felony weapon charge will be delayed until January. The charge stems from a September incident in which a 21-inch collapsible baton was found in the rapper's luggage when he tried to board a flight. Still ahead, Snoop is due to appear in court on Dec. 12 and Jan. 11 on charges stemming from separate incidents.

Olivia Newton-John is suing Universal Music Group for breach of contract and invasion of privacy, alleging that she's owed more than $1 million in royalties from sales of the Grease soundtrack, which features her picture on the cover.

L.A. judge has dismissed child molestation, fraud, breach of contract, and emotional distress claims leveled at Michael Jackson earlier this year by a now-21-year-old man who says the singer abused him for 12 years, starting when he was two. A trial on the remaining allegations though...assault, battery, false imprisonment, and sexual battery...is on the docket for June 4.

Lance Bass and Reichen Lehmkuhl have broken off their relationship of several months, Lehmkuhl's rep confirmed to "E! News." The duo first confirmed they were dating in July, after Bass publicly acknowledged he was gay.

Ronnie Lippin, a seasoned music publicist and manager who worked with such icons as Eric Clapton, Brian Wilson, and Prince, died Monday of a rare form of breast cancer. She was 59.
