2006 November Sweeps November 16 Listings

(Show titles in the larger size are the shows I recommend; reruns are not listed; all times are in the Mountain Time Zone)

7 PM:

Ugly Betty (ABC; ends at 8 PM)-It's Thanksgiving Day, and everyone at Mode celebrates in their own special way.  Betty is torn between work and home; Daniel attends his parents' brunch in hopes of seeing Sofia (recurring guest star Salma Hayek); Marc and Amanda camp out at the Mode offices, and Wilhelmina attempts something she's never done before...cooking a turkey.

Survivor: Cook Islands (CBS; ends at 8 PM)-An obvious flirtation between Adam and Candice is beginning to concern some of their tribe mates.  Jonathan hopes that his efforts to provide for his new tribe will protect him from elimination despite being low on the totem pole of the Raro tribe.  A festive prize is up for grabs at the Reward Challenge.  Will one tribe’s bickering and inability to work together cost them the reward?  Emotions run high as one survivor is betrayed by friends and unanimously banished to Exile Island.  After losing the Immunity Challenge, the defeated tribe is handed a sealed bottle containing a message that will be read at Tribal Council after they have sent someone home.  What is the message and how will it change the course of the game?

My Name is Earl (NBC; ends at 7:40 PM)-40-minute "Super-Sized" episode.  In the midst of a heat wave, Earl remembers number 26 on his list..."Robbed a Stoner Blind."  In his attempt to cross it off his list, Earl and Randy find Woody (guest star Christian Slater), the stoner they robbed, living an eco-friendly life in a commune.  The only way Woody will let Earl cross him off his list is if Earl and Randy live an environmentally conscious life in the commune with him for a week.  As Earl’s newfound insight on the environment becomes more extreme, his new mission is to save the world from global warming.

‘Til Death (FOX; ends at 7:30 PM)-Steph and Jeff convince Eddie and Joy to join them for a getaway in the mountains, but when Steph tells Jeff she had an erotic dream about Eddie, their vacation is anything but relaxing for the Woodcocks.  However, when Eddie hears the news, he becomes the “Dream Weaver.”

Smallville (CW; ends at 8 PM)-Clark (Tom Welling) learns a Zoner has landed in Seattle and slaughtered the entire crew of a working ship.  Upon investigation, Clark comes face to face with a horrifying Phantom (guest star Batista) who sucks the bones out of people.  Meanwhile, a patient (guest star Elias Toufexis) with the ability to morph into different frequencies escapes from LuthorCorps' secret experimental lab and seeks revenge on Lex by imprisoning him in another spatial period where he can see and hear everyone but no one can see him.

7:40 PM:

The Office (NBC; ends at 8:20 PM)-40-minute "Super-Sized" episode.  The Scranton branch and the Stamford branch of Dunder-Mifflin are merged, bringing old friends Jim and Pam back together after months apart.  Michael and Dwight and the other employees deal with the changes.

8 PM:

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC; ends at 9 PM)-The O'Malley Family visits George at the hospital, Meredith is determined to have a more positive outlook on life, Derek and Addison strive for a civil relationship, and Richard endeavors to reunite with his wife, Adele.

C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS; ends at 9 PM)-Identical twin sisters who apparently didn't know of each other's existence are murdered on the same night.  One is gunned down outside of a dry cleaners and the other one is hung with a dog leash inside her home.  The question facing the C.S.I.'s is whether the two crimes are connected or are coincidental.  Also, Grissom is invited to take part in a seminar at Brown University, which would require him to take a sabbatical.

The O.C. (FOX; ends at 9 PM)-As Summer tries to return to the celebrity-loving-gossip girl she once was, she realizes that making the trip to Brown may have changed her forever.  Fortunately, Seth continues to be supportive of the new Summer through all her endeavors.  Similarly, Ryan empathizes with Taylor and surprisingly helps her out of her bind.  Meanwhile, Julie and Kaitlin make attempts to stay out of trouble but both cannot resist the temptation to add a little spice to their lives.

Supernatural (CW; ends at 9 PM)-When two highly successful professionals die after claiming to be haunted by hellhounds, Sam and Dean investigate the local dive bar and discover it sits upon a site where a deal-making demon has been making people's dreams come true in exchange for their souls.  Dean summons the demon to exorcise it but is horrified after it reveals the painful truth about John's death and tempts Dean by offering him the one thing he wants more than anything...his father.

8:20 PM:

30 Rock (NBC; ends at 9 PM)-40-minute "Super-Sized" episode.  After being pressured by Jack to plug GE products into her show, Liz integrates Jack himself into a sketch.  While Jack hones his questionable acting chops, Frank and Toofer trick Jenna into fearing for her job and Liz wonders if Tracy is faking illiteracy to skip out on rehearsals.  This is "30 Rock's" debut on its new night.

E.R. (NBC; ends at 10 PM)-Abby and Kovac argue about a diagnosis when a woman comes into the ER with signs of spousal abuse.  When a group of confused homeless kids enter the E.R., Gates, Abby, and Neela must quickly determine one child's ailment before it is too late.  Meanwhile, Weaver is unexpectedly called to action while doing a news report at a school.
